The scourge of globalization and outsourcing

Some people hopelessly overestimate their skills. Even worse, if you were to point out their shortcomings, they’d be all insulted and reject any criticism.
On a site for freelancers, GetAFreelancer.com, I came across a (cheap) job posting for “article writers”, listing among the scarce requirements:
Writers must also be very good in English and its grammar.

Eurovision Song Contest 1993: Croatia

As far as the Eurovision Song Contest is concerned, there has been no better year, in my view, than 1993. Back then, most countries that participated came up with really good tunes, making it really hard to pick a winner.
Personally, I would have opted for Croatia’s entry:

Iceland Eurovision 1993

With all the financial trouble in Iceland at this time, let’s remember better times — such as 1993 when Iceland sent Inga to the Eurovision Song Contest:

A bit of music from way back when …

Wanda Jackson, like so many other American singers in the post-war years, recorded a number of songs in German: Santa Domingo (she never had a clue what the lyrics actually meant).

I was fortunate enough to meet her and her family [...]

I am sooooooooooo sorry!

If you read this story, you’ll understand why I am so sorry and utterly ashamed for having been a member of that party once — heck, I even served as a member of my local constituency association for a while, towards the end, briefly, as a VP!
I promise that will never happen again. I cut [...]

Werner for Senate

I have made it official and posted it to the National Post website:
I hereby officially announce my intention to demand my own appointment to the Senate. After all, if not me, then who else, right folks?
Now, it’s up to Prime Minister Stephen Harper to do the right thing …

Praise the Lord!

Canadians have finally found the silver lining of the dark and gloomy cloud of the recession: No more Canadian Idol — well, for a year, that is:
“Canadian Idol” is being put on the shelf in 2009, CTV announced Tuesday.
The program hosted by Ben Mulroney finished its sixth season this fall and remained a Canadian TV [...]
